A versatile jazz musician,
MIKE BOGLE was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1992 for his arrangement of Chick Corea's composition Got a Match? An accomplished trombonist, pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger, Dr. Bogle currently calls Arlington, Texas his home where he serves as Associate Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. He is founder of the Mike Bogle Jazztet (a jazz, R & B, funk, Latin group); Que Pasa? (a band specializing in salsa, reggae, calypso and island sounds); Paradise (a blues, top 40 and variety band); Elephants Jarold (an eclectic mixture of jazz, Latin, reggae, pop and funk) and the Mike Bogle Big Band. Dr. Bogle's performance credits include: Doc Severinsen, Bobby Caldwell, James Moody, Slide Hampton, Jaco Pastorious, Ira Sullivan, Pete Christlieb, Duffy Jackson, Burt Bacharach, Dianna Ross, Tom Jones, Mark Morganelli and the Jazz Forum All-Stars, the UTA Jazz Orchestra, the UNT One O'Clock Lab Band, The Shelley Carroll Big Band, and Latin American artists Willie Chirino and Lissette. Mike has recorded with many Latin music organizations in Miami including Tania Records, Gustavo Rojas and El Grupo "Chequere." Dr. Bogle is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE), International Trombone Association (ITA), Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the American Federation of Musicians (AFM).
