(10 Brass) This lyrical composition was written in memory of Deborah Hines and is recorded on UNF's Things to Come. The 28-bar form and shifting harmonies offer a challenge to the 2nd tenor saxophone and piano soloists. Trumpet range is a written E flat and required doubles are flugelhorns for the trumpet section as well as flute, clarinet and bass clarinet for reeds.

As a trombonist, CLARENCE HINES has shared the stage with such artists as Bob Brookmeyer, Slide Hampton, Jimmy Heath, Pat Martino, Bob Mintzer, Eddie Palmieri, and Sam Rivers among others, and has also performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Jacksonville Jazz Festival, East Coast Jazz Festival and the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) Conference. Besides performing regularly in the Western New York area with the Dave Rivello Ensemble, Clarence frequently performs in shows featuring such entertainers as the Temptations, Johnny Mathis, Harry James Orchestra, Josh Groban, Steve Lippa, Gene Pitney, Les DeMerle and Gloria Loring. As a composer and arranger, Clarence has been commissioned to compose/arrange works for various ensembles ranging from large and small jazz ensembles to studio orchestras. In addition to receiving recognition from Downbeat Magazine for several of his works, his compositions and arrangements have been performed at the Midwest Clinic, IAJE Conference, North Sea jazz Festival, Jacksonville Jazz Festival and, most recently, at the Rochester International Jazz Festival. Clarence has a Master of Music Degree in Jazz Studies and Contemporary Music from the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Florida. Prior to completing undergraduate studies, Clarence served as trombonist in the U.S. Army. Currently, he is a Doctor of Music Arts Degree candidate at the Eastman School of Music. In addition to teaching combos and the Jazz Lab Band at Eastman, Clarence also teaches trombone in the Eastman Community Music School and has served a faculty member at summer programs such as Birch Creek Jazz Camp, Tritone Fantasy Camp and the North Florida Jazz Camp.
