Russell Miller Biographical Information Russ Miller - saxophonist, flautist, clarinetist, composer, arranger,educator, adjudicator and clinician - has been active in the metropolitan Detroit area for more than twenty-five years. He is currently a full-time faculty member of the Department of Music at Wayne State University teaching jazz arranging and orchestration, jazz improvisation, jazz ensembles and private instruction. Russ' performance credits include the likes of J.C. Heard, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, Buddy DeFranco, Rob McConnell, Rosemary Clooney, Milt Hinton and Jimmy Witherspoon. In addition, he has performed with many top national entertainers such as Bernadette Peters, Andy Williams, Sammy Davis Jr., Liberace, The Four Freshmen, Bobby Vinton, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Spinners and Martha Reeves. Russ remains active locally with the Russ Miller Quartet/Quintet, The Masters of Music Big Band, and the Toledo Jazz Orchestra and as a sideman with various Detroit area groups. Russ is also called upon for work in shows at the Fisher Theater, the Masonic Temple, the DTE Energy Theater and the Michigan Opera Theater.
