DON ELLIS was acknowledged by the jazz world as one of the most important, influential and innovative jazz musicians in this century. During his career as a trumpeter, he developed new styles and concepts that brought revolutionary change to jazz. The late Don Ellis developed "Third Stream Jazz," a style merging elements of classical music with jazz. He brought the use of electronics into his work, again creating unique and spectacular sound. Ellis wrote various musical backgrounds for television shows, commercials and the film industry. Receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from Boston University, Ellis was recognized during his career with various awards, including several Grammy Nominations and a Grammy Award in 1972.
