The beautiful but not often heard verse begins this arrangement, and because of its length can almost hold up as a tune of its own. The verse is rather slow and rubato, moving to a moderate swing on the chorus. The tempo should not be played faster than the sixteenth note passages written in the chorus. As a surprise, near the end there is a sudden change of feeling and again the verse is heard, this time acting as a coda.
