FRUITCAKE • BIG BAND CHART comp.
Jeff Coffin / arr. Deacon-Joyner,
Difficulty
Level: V,
Trumpet
Range: F6.
Parts
Included: full score, 5 saxes, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, piano, bass, drums,
guitar.
This is a tune by Jeff that harkens the spirit and groove of
the shuffle as played by the late, great jazz drummer Art Blakey. David
Deacon-Joyner was the Repertory Ensemble Director at the University of North
Texas when Jeff was there and they have been working together again on a
professional level for many years. This is a great arrangement and has a
beautifully arranged and slightly tricky saxophone soli. Solid, fun solo
changes and a strong grooving shuffle will raise the roof as well as the
bandstand!
