THE MAD HATTER RIDES AGAIN • BIG BAND CHART comp. Jeff Coffin / arr. Deacon-Joyner, Difficulty Level: IV, Trumpet Range: D6. Parts Included: full score, 5 saxes, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, piano, bass, drums, guitar.
This is a favorite of Jeff’s and of everyone who hears it! It’s a very catchy melody that happens to be in 17 (or 8 ½ if you prefer). You’ll hum it the first time you hear it. It’s like Maceo Parker/James Brown but in an odd time signature with open solo space for any ensemble member. This is yet another burning chart by Dr. David Deacon-Joyner that is sure to bring the funk to the bandstand. Originally recorded on Jeff’s CD “Bloom” by Victor Wooten on bass and Derico Watson on drums, you KNOW it gots to be funky!
The Mad Hatter Rides Again can be heard on Jeff Coffin's big band recording THE INSIDE OF THE OUTSIDE and on his solo recording BLOOM - both on Ear Up Records.
