(Level IV) A modal piece that moves between a jazz waltz in 3/4 and a funky waltz in 3/2. Melody is stated first by alto, flute, flugelhorn, and baritone sax. Later, a harmon mute and guitar are added doubling at the fifth. A developmental section alternates between choral and rhythmic accompaniment and alternates between two grooves, finally setting up the 3/2 funk groove for the tenor 1 solo. A transition sets up the return of the jazz waltz for the alto 1 solo. The original theme returns without rhythmic accompaniment for the first phrase. After a brief return of the 3/2 funky waltz, the tune ends quietly. 8 Brass
